I can’t exactly put a finger on to why it’s always so upsetting when a celebrity dies. I mean, in general, as people we should be upset when anyone loses a loved one but why do we especially feel down about celebrities?
For me, I think it’s because we associate certain memories with that person. Actor Bill Paxton died earlier today at the age of 61 for most people they’ll talk about Twister or Titanic but I’ll remember him for getting beat up in the Terminator!
Actor Bill Paxton passed away recently due to complications from a surgery. He was 61, his family put out the following statement; “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” a family representative said in a statement. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”
The actor got his start back in the 70’s and has several movie and TV credits to his name, most notably Twister and Titanic and Apollo 13 but for whatever reason it may be the scene below is the one that always gets me.
I remember after I saw Titanic in the theaters, years ago, The Terminator was on TV and that scene popped up and I freaked out! It was like, “Hey, that’s the guy in Titanic!” Ever since then, that’s what pops into my head.
He was a terrific actor and he will be missed. If you were a fan of this man at all, maybe it’s time to pop in one of his movies as a simple homage.
